Welcome to the website of the Indiana Society of Medical Assistants (ISMA), an affiliate of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Thank you for your interest in our society and our profession. Our website objective is to offer a wealth of information about our society and membership to all visitors. Whether you are a prospective or current student, educator, medical assistant, certified medical assistant, or individual interested in the profession, there is valuable information here for you.

The “Leadership” tab connects you with our elected and appointed volunteer leaders. Our Board of Directors are elected officers and Directors who are elected by their local district membership. Also identified here are those members who have been recognized for their dedication and participation in society activities.

“Events” guide you to upcoming opportunities throughout the state to obtain Continuing Education Unit Credits (CEU) which are needed to maintain your certification status. Recertification is required every five years with 60 CEUs to maintain current certification.

“Educator/Student” is for individuals who are in the educational system as well as currently practicing medical assistants. Journey though the links offered to explore our life changing profession and who to obtain AAMA certification.

Under the “Documents” tab you will find our Bylaws (governing document), procedure manual (how our society works), zip code listings to aid you in locating your local district and Med-A-Scoop for current and past issues of our state newsletter.

Please explore all that the website offers and if you do not find the answer to the question which brings you here, please contact me or a member in your area as identified under leadership. We welcome your inquiries and contributions.
